I have a plan to raise $10,000 for some awesome organizations by Sept. 22, 2013 – the day I run in Ironman Lake Tahoe. Only 95 days away! Raised so far: $6,197! Want to increase this total? Chip in a few bucks to one of our causes here, or participate in one of our upcoming fundraising events.
In honor of recently reaching the 100 days to go milestone, I kicked off a new fundraising challenge! Every day for the last 100 days before Ironman Lake Tahoe, I’ll be picking out a motivational winner that earns $5 to the TFAC cause of their choice. Winners so far include Ginger, John, Chris, Brian, Tawnya & Suzanne, Matthew, Jessica, and Erik. How do you win? Go find out the details here.
Three Months to Go!
Today is June 22, 2013. Three months from today is September 22, 2013. The date of the inaugural running of Ironman Lake Tahoe.
I will be among the thousands at the starting line, ready to take on a 2.4 mile swim in the lake, 112 mile bike ride into the hills, and 26.2 mile run. All at about 6,000 feet of elevation.
Am I scared? Surprisingly, no.
Am I respectful? Absolutely.
Training has been going quite well (see my Monday check-ins to follow along), with one minor calf muscle hiccup a couple of weeks ago that seems to be healing up nicely with some rest, ice, and the miracle known as Mission Max Muscle Rehab Gel.
(Note: Mission Athletecare does not endorse me, pay me, or, frankly, even know that I exist. I love their products, though, and am not shy about sharing my fondness for their wares – their Anti-Friction Cream is the BEST, unfortunately it looks like that product is being discontinued and is currently on sale at their site for a steal at $5! Load it on up!)
Our Ragnar Northwest Passage team is primed and ready to kick some bootay in less than one month. Fundraising is going well. Planning is on track. Training is is on pace – a whole slew of teammates slayed the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll 13.1 today. It is going to be a monster fun time. And when you see blog and Facebook posts referencing the race, don’t be scared when you see multiple, over-excited Honey Badger references. Embrace the Honey Badger. Well, figuratively, not literally; a honey badger will kill you if you try to hug it.
And yet it still comes back around to the big event. Three months to go until the big day. No fear. Lots of respect. And filled to the brim with enthusiasm.
This next three months is going. to. rock. Are you in for the ride?
- July 22 – we will be hosting a wine and beer tasting event with Papa Jeff & Suzanne in Vancouver, WA! More details will be coming, but I hope to see your handsome faces there!
- Lauren and I have purse & shoe exchange parties (guys can come, too… we’ll just watch movies/games on the big screen), wine tasting parties, and some other fun activities in the works… stay tuned.
- Let me know if you have any ideas, are interested in helping out with an event, or would like to host or co-host. The more the merrier!
